The Outer Banks is one of the most pet friendly vacation spots in the USA.

With an abundance of trails, parks, watering holes and pet friendly vacation rentals it isn’t hard to see why the the Outer Banks is largely considered a favorite among pet-loving people. Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, Duck Town Park, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, and my personal favorite Currituck National Wildlife Refuge all have great hiking trails that welcome pets, on a leash of course. And for help with selecting a rental try Twiddy & Company with over 300 pet friendly vacation rentals and a wealth of pet loving people.

Some of our favorite places to take our dogs are Nags Head Woods Preserve, Kitty Hawk Dog Park and Carova Beach.

Along with these parks, there are 138 beautiful miles of coastline that are guaranteed to make your pet happy on a long walk. There is just something about seeing them enjoy the sand, sun and waves as much as their owners. You’ll never see an unhappy dog on the beach.

twiddy3As a wise man once said “Give a dog a bone, Leave a dog alone, Let a dog roam, And he’ll find his way home.” For me and my dog that home is the Outer Banks.
